| Naval Investigative Service. Became the Naval Security and Investigative Command in 1985. The area of responsibility for the Washington Field Office includes Naval District Washington. The region encompasses more than 4,000 square miles, including the District of Columbia; all counties of Delaware, Maryland, and West Virginia; and the following counties in Virginia: Accomack, Arlington, Caroline, Clark, Culpepper, Essex, Fairfax, Fauquier, Frederick, Greene, King George, Lancaster, Loudoun, Madison, North Hampton, Orange, Page, Prince William, Rappannock, Richmond, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Warren, and Westmoreland. |
